Settings and customization

Open Settings from the main navigation whenever you want to change Gravify. Appearance lets you choose System, Dark, or Light theme and Compact, Default, Large, or Extra large interface size.

Other Settings areas manage privacy and permissions, connected data sources, relationship parameters, License & Updates, Help, and your local data. These remain available after the first guide is finished or skipped.

Available and upcoming connections

WhatsApp is currently the only available account connector. Google (Gmail and Google Calendar), Microsoft (Outlook Mail and Calendar), and TickTick appear under In development and cannot connect or synchronize yet. Device contacts, contact-file imports and WhatsApp-file imports are separate available sources. Calendar defaults still configure local planning; they do not enable a provider connection.

Follow the public roadmap for these connectors, mobile and Linux apps, and future synchronization options. Planned and exploring items are not current capabilities, and no release date is promised.

Devices & Sync

Use Devices & Sync when you want to connect another computer. You can skip this section if you use Gravify on one PC. See Connect two Windows computers for what Tailscale does, installation links, setup on each PC, and checks when a connection fails.

Privacy and permissions

The Settings menu has three groups:

On a wide window, select an entry to view its settings on the right. On a narrow window, an entry opens a page; use Back to return to the menu. Technical connection details and file locations remain in expandable sections. Send Feedback attaches no archive data or logs automatically.

Privacy & Permissions shows the current access state for contacts, location, and notifications, and links to the relevant controls. Opening the page does not request new access or read your coordinates. Contact management is also available in Accounts & Data Sources. Provider account access remains managed with each connected account; file import reads the files you choose.

Location is requested when you choose to use or test your current location. On Windows, enable Location services and desktop-app access in Windows settings if acquisition is blocked. Gravify offers a link to those settings and reports failure instead of treating an unavailable position as a successful result. Returning from system settings refreshes the access state. Windows system access and your decision to enable a Gravify feature are separate controls.

Relationship Reminders

Relationship Reminders are rules you create, not automatic reminders for every contact. Open Settings → Relationship Reminders. If the page shows Add labels to contacts, select people and add a relationship label first. Then choose Create reminder. A person must both have that label and be heart-marked to qualify.

Choose the change to watch, the comparison period, the suggested meeting or call, and how long to wait before another reminder. Less present means a drop of at least one Presence point; Disappeared means the person was present in the previous period and is absent in the current one; a custom condition uses your selected point loss. Both periods need enough history to compare. Missing history is not treated as a decline. See Presence and its formula.

The inbox button at the top right of Relationship Reminders opens the Reminder inbox. A rule can be saved without producing an immediate reminder: its people may not match yet, lack comparable history, or already have a future encounter explicitly linked to them. An unrelated calendar title does not count as a linked plan. Removing that future plan allows the rule to qualify again.

From a reminder, plan something, choose Remind me later, or mark it not helpful. A snooze keeps the full waiting period selected in the rule, including calendar-month boundaries. Resolving an episode closes it; a later recovery followed by another decline can create a new episode. Gravify does not send a message to the person.

Notifications on this device

Open Settings → Notifications, enable Relationship Reminders, and continue. This device preference is separate from system notification access. Disabling delivery does not delete rules or the reminder inbox.

Choose Send test to send a generic notification immediately, without creating a rule or waiting for a decline. It does not consume a reminder's cooldown or the daily delivery allowance. The result confirms submission to the system, not that you saw a banner. If nothing appears, inspect the notification center and system settings.

Normal reminders are delivered between 09:00 and 20:00 in this device's local time, at most one every 24 hours per device. Remaining reminders wait in the inbox. Turn off Show relationship details for generic notification wording without a person's name or relationship condition.

Rules are evaluated from the local replica when the app starts or resumes, after synchronized changes, and every 15 minutes while the app is running. Internet access is not required for local evaluation, but current provider data requires synchronization. Sleeping devices and fully closed clients cannot evaluate or deliver new reminders. On Windows, closing the window into low-consumption background mode stops the notification client; periodic gateway capture alone does not evaluate or deliver reminders.

System permission changes do not erase your saved delivery preference. Returning from system settings refreshes the access indicator; if the system blocks delivery, reminders stay available for later.

Windows background synchronization

With background operation enabled, closing the window leaves a small tray controller. Choose Live, every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, every hour, or Never. An open window uses live synchronization. Scheduled modes open a short capture window and stop the connector between cycles; Never still allows one explicit Sync now from the tray.

The low-consumption background mode captures WhatsApp events into protected local storage while the main Hub sleeps. Reopen Gravify to import those events and update the visible conversations. It does not keep the notification client or the complete media importer running. The computer must be awake and connected during a capture window; missed intervals do not trigger a burst of catch-up processes.

In full local history mode, authorized media downloads resume after the Hub accepts their messages. Originals are processed gradually, with one active download and small batches. Files are streamed to disk rather than loaded entirely into memory. A slow transfer may continue while data arrives; a stalled transfer is stopped and retried with increasing delays. Completed files are reused after a restart.

When storage is low, large files remain queued and smaller files that fit can still finish. Free space and leave the Hub running to continue. Files no longer available from WhatsApp, invalid files, or files exceeding the configured size limit cannot be guaranteed: they remain unavailable or failed rather than being reported as downloaded. Client devices fetch retained originals when opened; they do not all download a second complete copy automatically.
