Importing and storage

Importing adds the interaction evidence made available by a connected source to your Personal Hub. Gravify processes that local evidence into relationship views; the hosted account and licence service does not receive it.

History may be incomplete because a source can expose only part of its archive, a device can go offline, or import can still be running. Gravify labels partial evidence rather than treating it as complete. The map may evolve as more history arrives.

Device contacts

Open Settings → Accounts & Data Sources → Device contacts, then choose Enable device contacts and confirm the explanation. Gravify imports names and contact details into your private workspace; it does not send messages. Your explicit edits in Gravify take priority over imported device names, which take priority over messaging-provider names.

On Windows, Gravify reads the Windows address book in read-only mode. Contacts held only in an online mail account or on your phone do not automatically appear in that address book. If the import finds no contacts, export a vCard file from your source and use Accounts & Data Sources → Import files → Contact files. No Windows permission popup is guaranteed; the explicit Gravify confirmation controls whether the app may read the address book.

Choose Refresh contacts to import subsequent Windows address-book changes. Turn off contact access prevents further Windows reads. It does not delete people already imported into Gravify or change the original address book. On supported mobile clients, access is controlled by the operating system and native write-back still requires your reviewed confirmation.

Restore a backup

Open Settings → Data & Backups → Import a backup and choose the ZIP exported by Gravify.

  1. Upload: keep Gravify open. The progress window stays in front while the file is transferred to your Personal Hub.
  2. Validate and restore: the Hub checks the archive, then restores it in saved blocks. The progress bar shows the phase and message count; you can browse other screens and use the history already restored.
  3. Finish: relationship presence is recalculated and devices refresh their data. Keep the Hub powered on until completion.

If the Hub restarts, the import resumes from its last saved block. An interrupted import offers Retry or Stop. Stop keeps what has already been restored. Wait for completion before exporting another backup or deleting all data.

A backup restores content, not provider passwords or linked-device sessions. Reconnect sources separately when needed. Read backup and deletion precautions before removing the original data.

Where data is stored

On Windows, the Personal Hub is stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Gravify\Hub; the encrypted desktop replica is stored under %APPDATA%\Gravify. Open Settings → Data & Backups → Technical locations for the program, database, media, update, and log paths.

The Windows uninstaller lets you preserve the Personal Hub for a later reinstall or permanently remove Gravify's managed data directories too. Export a backup from Settings → Data & Backups before uninstalling if you may want to restore your workspace. Read Uninstall, disconnect, or delete data before choosing.
